About HomeQuoteHQ
HomeQuoteHQ is an independent home improvement research site focused on residential roofing. We publish locally-researched cost guides, code and permit information, and recent storm activity data for major US metros, and we connect homeowners with vetted local contractors when they are ready to get quotes.
What we do
Roofing is one of the largest single home improvement expenses most homeowners ever face. A typical residential roof replacement runs $10,000 to $25,000, and the variables that drive the final price differ meaningfully from city to city based on local labor markets, permit requirements, climate, and recent storm activity. Most homeowners go through this decision two or three times in a lifetime, which is not enough repetition to develop expertise in the contractor market or the underlying cost structure.
We do the homework. For each of the 91 metros we cover, we publish current cost ranges based on regional surveys and Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, the specific code and permit requirements enforced by the local jurisdiction, recent storm activity from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and the contractor licensing rules and market patterns specific to that city. We update this data on a regular cadence as conditions change.
How we make money
HomeQuoteHQ receives compensation when a homeowner requests a quote through our partner network of licensed contractors. We do not charge homeowners for the service. We are not paid to recommend specific contractors over others, and our editorial content - cost ranges, code information, contractor vetting guidance - is not influenced by these partnerships. The partner contractors we work with are vetted for active licensing, current insurance, and verifiable installation history before they receive any leads from our platform.
Where our data comes from
Cost figures come from a combination of regional contractor surveys, Bureau of Labor Statistics OEWS wage data filtered to roofer occupations by MSA, and HomeAdvisor and Roofing Insights regional averages reconciled against contractor quotes we sample periodically. Permit cost ranges come from municipal fee schedules. Storm activity comes from the NOAA Storm Events Database, fetched directly from NOAA. Licensing and code requirements come from the relevant state contractor boards and municipal building departments.
We refresh this data quarterly. Specific cost figures on city pages carry a footer indicating the most recent refresh date and the underlying source.
Who runs the site
HomeQuoteHQis published by SmartFrames LLC, a Georgia-registered limited liability company that operates a small portfolio of consumer-research sites. We are not affiliated with any roofing manufacturer, contractor, or insurance company. Editorial decisions are made by the site’s own team.
About our bylines
Guides published on HomeQuoteHQ carry the byline Jamie Holland. This is an editorial pen name used across our long-form roofing content. We publish under a consistent byline so readers can recognize our editorial work across the site, and so individual contributors can do their work without being publicly identified.
